My 5 month old daughter LOVES her Sophie the Giraffe toy! This toy is absolutely wonderful in every way. Sophie is made of soft rubber and makes a pleasant-sounding squeak whenever any part of her body is squeezed, so even a young baby can elicit a reaction from the toy with minimal effort.
I don't know what it is about Sophie, but whenever my daughter plays with her, she gets very vocal and talkative.
I saw another review which referred to this toy as "a glorified dog toy". That reviewer is mistaken, and simply doesn't realize the value of this toy.

We just got this for our infant, and I couldn't help but give it a bit of a test chew, myself. Now, I obviously don't have a huge deal of experience (or, memory, rather) with teething toys, but this is good stuff. Very satisfying to bite on. I'm thinking of getting a second one for myself to use in the office to deal with stress. Much better than my kid's silicone pacifier, which I've also tried.
My only complaint is that the giraffe appears to have fluorescent lip stick, which is a bit disconcerting to see in a giraffe, even a French one.

I previously gave the Bumbo four stars, now its five.
Ive been using the Bumbo for almost 6 months now, and it has helped tremendously if I tally all the work Im using it for.
Like most new mothers, I received and bought hundreds ( it feels like thousands)of new things for my baby. Like I have 3 gym or playmats, 4 carriers, clothing, toys and more toys stacked up in the attic, etc.
BUT only 1 or 2 will stand out in each category.
BUMBO falls under the sitting-infant category. Its numero 1--No.1 in my list. When my baby's neck became strong, I started her on a Bumbo. It has a concave seat design, thus contouring around the baby's pudgy bottom. Its rubbery cushy so Im sure she's comfortable.
My baby also likes to see things from an upright position, and Im more than willing to oblige if that's her innate nature of inquisitiveness.

I love the concept of the bumbo however it never really worked for my daughter. She would always end up flopping over to one side in search of a toy that she dropped so I could never get her to stay in it for more than a few minutes at a time. I tried to add the tray (which is not easy to get on)thinking that would help with the problem but it didn't.
I know friends whose kids loved the bumbo so my advice would be to borrow one from a friend first to see if it is worth buying your own. Every baby is different and this is definitely one baby product that can be really useful or just another colorful thing to collect dust and take up closet space.

I really like the idea of the Bumbo baby sitter. I really, really do... but the short story is... my baby never did.
I bought it for him around 4 months because he was displaying such interest (really from about 3 months) of wanting to sit up on his own. Like another reviewer's baby, he is a bit on the short and chubby side and consequently found the leg holes of the Bumbo a bit too tight and, thus, uncomfortable. As soon as I put him in it, he would arch his back trying to get out. (To the Bumbo's credit, he never could and the Bumbo never tipped... but I did put some pillows behind him just in case he managed to get out or topple the whole thing over one day!) We tried him in it several times for a few minutes at a time over the course of a 4-5 weeks -- waiting to see if he'd get used to it -- but, alas, he never did. (What ended up working best was what I initially started with... the *infamous* Boppy pillow. And now at 6.5 months, he can sit on his own... Read more

We got our turtle yesterday and no, the stars don't move and the yellow stars don't show, but my five year old loved having blue stars all over her room. The amber starts would only work if you have very, very dark walls, so they are pretty useless. Finding the constellations can be done if the turtle is in the middle of a large room. I don't know if it was an earlier model that people said the stars only showed if it was right next to the ceiling, but ours works even if it is on the floor. Granted, the stars are more detailed the closer you get, but I left it at the foot of my daughter's bed and her room was covered with stars. So the look of enchantment on her face was worth the thirty bucks, plus the turtle is cute. Also, please pay attention to the age recommendation--it truly is for three and over. My one year old would probably stand on it or drop it and the shell could be damaged, so it is for older children.

I am an avid stargazer and have been looking for the perfect celestial touches for my soon-to-be-arriving baby's room. This is the most adorable and unique night light I have ever seen! It works beautifully - the star projections on the ceiling are great, and I am especially thrilled that they are actual constellations. To the reviewer who complained about the shell breaking and injuring her 18-month old, it says on the box that this is for ages 3 and up. It's not meant for babies to play with; it's more of a night light than a toy anyway. Overall I think it is a high quality, wonderful item and I would recommend it to anyone!

We already had a Cloud b Twilight Turtle - Constellation Night Light and got this Twilight Ladybug to use when we sleep at grandma's house. My daughter loved the turtle, and loves the ladybug even more! I will say, this one is much improved from the turtle we got over 2 years ago for a couple reasons... 1. the ON button also turns the light OFF as well on this ladbug (the turtle doesn't have the OFF option- you have to turn it off by the switch underneath if you want it off before the 45 min. automatic shutoff) 2. the stars are much clearer on the ceiling and there are more of them, including now a crescent moon cutout too (on the old turtle the stars appeared pretty blurry and there weren't as many of them to make a full sky on the ceiling).
